The alarming thing about building new nuclear power plants is, you must stand in line for parts. By that I mean the United States no longer has the kilns or manufacturing capabilities to build the single cast steam generators or many other items used to construct the plant. Steam generators generally come from Japan or France. When a license is approved by the NRC, then you order long lead items from those that can supply them. Currently so many countries around the world are ordering parts that the wait can be five years or more. Many around the world have seen the wisdom of building new nuclear power plants and have order materials, unfortunately this country has not, there have even been reports of one company or country paying another for their place in line to hurry their order for new nuclear materials.
